Which product analytics tool do AI engines recommend? Amplitude, by a whisker over Mixpanel
What each engine named
Same question to all eight: what is the best product analytics tool. Amplitude took five picks, Mixpanel two, and Google Analytics one. The tell is which engines went where: all three that read the live web named Amplitude, while Mixpanel and Google Analytics were named only by memory-based engines.
| AI engine | How it answers | Its top product analytics tool pick |
|---|---|---|
| Cohere Command-A | memory | Amplitude |
| GPT-OSS 120B | memory | Amplitude |
| ChatGPT (GPT-5) | grounded | Amplitude |
| Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite | grounded | Amplitude |
| Perplexity | grounded | Amplitude |
| Llama 4 Scout | memory | Mixpanel |
| Qwen 3.6 | memory | Mixpanel |
| Llama 3.3 70B | memory | Google Analytics |
The engines that read today's web all landed on Amplitude; the tie only survives in the models answering from memory.AI Recommendation Audit 2026 · Product analytics
Why the tie breaks toward Amplitude
On raw mentions Amplitude and Mixpanel are a coin flip, they have traded the "modern product analytics" crown for years and both saturate the historical record the memory engines draw on. What breaks the tie is grounding: all three engines that read live pages before answering chose Amplitude, suggesting the current web, its docs, comparisons, and community, leans Amplitude right now. When memory says "tie" and grounding says "Amplitude," you are watching a lead form in real time.
Answering from memory
Split 3 ways
The five memory-based engines scatter: two for Mixpanel, one for Google Analytics, two for Amplitude. From the historical record, Amplitude and Mixpanel look interchangeable.
Reading the live web
Amplitude 3 of 3
Every grounded engine, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, named Amplitude, a sign the current web leans its way even though the all-time record is a dead heat.

Beyond the top pick, here is how often each tool was named, blended into a category score. Amplitude and Mixpanel are nearly level, Google Analytics is a clear third, and the rest trail.
What to do with a near-tie
If you are buying: treat this as a genuine two-tool shortlist, Amplitude and Mixpanel, with the grounded sweep as your tiebreaker. Both are strong; Amplitude has the current-web momentum, Mixpanel is often faster to set up for smaller teams. Pick on your data model and who will maintain it, not on the AI vote alone.
If you sell an analytics tool that is neither: the tie shows there is no locked default here, which is exactly the category where a challenger can still move the answer. Win the grounded engines the way Amplitude just did, by owning the live web for a nameable slice ("product analytics for mobile games," "warehouse-native analytics"), and the memory engines follow later.
Is AI naming you in a category still up for grabs?
We measure exactly this for your brand: your real buyer queries across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI, scored against the rivals the engines name instead of you, and split by whether the engine reads the live web. Free, hand-run, dated.

Which product analytics tool do AI engines recommend most in 2026?
Amplitude. Of 8 engines asked, 5 named Amplitude, 2 named Mixpanel, and 1 named Google Analytics. On the blended score Amplitude (8.67) and Mixpanel (8.38) are nearly tied, but all three web-grounded engines chose Amplitude.
Amplitude vs Mixpanel, which do AIs prefer?
Both, almost equally, on total mentions. But Amplitude wins the top-pick vote 5 to 2 and swept every web-grounded engine, which suggests the current web leans Amplitude even though the all-time record is a dead heat.
Does the AI vote settle Amplitude vs Mixpanel for me?
No. It is close enough that you should shortlist both. Amplitude has current momentum and a deeper behavioral model; Mixpanel is often quicker to stand up. Decide on your data model, team, and budget, using the AI vote only as a tiebreaker.
Method and honesty note
This is original measurement, part of The AI Recommendation Audit 2026 (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20767878, CC-BY). Across 16 B2B and GTM software categories we put the same buying question to 8 live AI engines (Llama 3.3 via Groq, Cohere Command-A, Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite grounded, Perplexity, ChatGPT GPT-5, Llama 4 Scout, GPT-OSS 120B, Qwen 3.6), snapshot captured June 19 to July 8, 2026. This page reports the product analytics category. Blended scores are computed across engines per the audit methodology, reported as measured. AI answers are volatile, so this is a dated snapshot, not a permanent ranking; re-run the published protocol to reproduce it.
