What your next 1,000 profiles actually cost
The headline price tells you what you pay today. The more useful number is what growth costs you, and that is nowhere near constant. This is the marginal cost of 1,000 more profiles at each of the 48 steps.
Cost of the next 1,000 profiles, at every step of the ladder
Each bar is one step up. Green is the cheapest step, red the most expensive.
Two bands sit at the extremes and they are close neighbours on the ladder, which is what makes this worth knowing.
Adds 3,500 profiles for $10. That is $2.86 per 1,000, and a 54 percent bigger list for 7 percent more money.
Seven consecutive steps, each adding 500 profiles for $25. That is $50.00 per 1,000, 17.5 times the cheapest step.
Steps become regular, roughly $55 to $70 per 5,000 profiles, or about $11 to $14 per 1,000, all the way to the ceiling.
The 10,000 profile edge
One threshold does more work than any other on this ladder, and it is worth stating on its own.
$150 a month
$0.0150 per profile
$175 a month
$0.0167 per profile
Five hundred more profiles, a 5 percent bigger list, costs 17 percent more money. And $0.0150 per profile at exactly 10,000 is the cheapest profile anywhere on the published ladder. You do not beat it again until roughly 30,000 profiles, by which point you are paying $500 a month.
The practical reading: if your list is sitting anywhere between about 6,500 and 10,000, you have unusually cheap room to grow into, and it is worth filling. If you are about to cross 10,000, the list hygiene conversation, suppressing profiles that have not engaged in a year, pays for itself unusually quickly right at that line.
Where growing your list makes each profile dearer
Cost per profile falls overall, from $0.040 at 500 profiles to $0.013 at 150,000. That is the volume discount working. But it does not fall smoothly, and at 11 of the 48 steps it goes the wrong way.

The send allowance follows one rule, and the free plan breaks it
Across all 49 paid tiers the monthly email allowance is exactly ten times the profile count. Not approximately: exactly, at every single step. The free plan does not follow that rule.
The free plan gives 250 profiles and 500 emails a month. That is two sends per profile per month, one fifth of the paid ratio. So the free plan's real constraint is usually not the 250 profile cap, it is that you can only reach your list twice a month. A weekly newsletter to 250 people needs roughly 1,000 sends and does not fit.

The full table is 49 rows. These are the ones that mark a change in behaviour.
| Active profiles | Price per month | Emails per month | Cost per profile | Why this row |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| 1,500 | $45 | 15,000 | $0.0300 | Where most small senders actually start |
| 6,500 | $140 | 65,000 | $0.0215 | Bottom of the cheapest growth band |
| 10,000 | $150 | 100,000 | $0.0150 | Cheapest profile on the entire ladder |
| 10,500 | $175 | 105,000 | $0.0167 | First step past the cliff, 17 percent more for 5 percent more list |
| 13,500 | $325 | 135,000 | $0.0241 | Top of the expensive band, cost per profile peaks again here |
| 50,000 | $720 | 500,000 | $0.0144 | Steps become regular from here up |
| 150,000 | $1,955 | 1,500,000 | $0.0130 | Last published price. Above this, sales only |
How this compares in the category
Klaviyo prices on profiles held rather than per seat, which is the normal shape for ecommerce email platforms and unlike the per-seat model used by most sales and content tools. Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign and Constant Contact price on the same contact-volume axis, while Attentive and Postscript sit alongside it on the SMS side and HubSpot and Marketo come at the same buyer from a full CRM. We have not re-verified prices for any of those in this pass, so this page quotes none of them. It names the shelf so you know what to compare against, and gives numbers only for the product we actually read.
How we verified this
Klaviyo does not publish its ladder as a table. The prices live behind a slider on klaviyo.com/pricing, which means most write-ups quote the three or four positions the author happened to drag to. On 30 August 2026 we set the Marketing profile slider to each of its 50 positions in turn and recorded the profile count, price and send allowance rendered at every stop. That produced 49 priced tiers plus a final talk-to-sales position, which is the table this page is built on.
The free plan figures come from the same page. Every derived number here, cost per profile, marginal cost per 1,000, and the 17.5 times swing, is computed from those readings rather than quoted from anywhere. No aggregator, reseller listing or third-party pricing database was used. Prices shown are for the Marketing product with email included; Klaviyo also sells mobile messaging, Composer credits and separate Data and Service products, which are priced on their own axes and are not in this table.
Common questions
How much does Klaviyo cost per month?
Klaviyo's published Marketing ladder starts at $20 a month for 500 active profiles and runs to $1,955 a month for 150,000 active profiles, across 49 priced tiers. Above 150,000 profiles the slider stops showing a price and says talk to sales. There is also a free plan covering up to 250 profiles. All figures read from klaviyo.com/pricing on 30 August 2026.
Does Klaviyo get cheaper per profile as your list grows?
Mostly, but not always. Cost per profile falls from $0.040 at 500 profiles to $0.013 at 150,000, so the broad trend is downward. But it rises at 11 of the 48 steps in the ladder. The clearest stretch runs from 10,000 to 13,500 profiles, where cost per profile climbs from $0.0150 to $0.0241, meaning each profile gets more expensive as you add more of them.
What is the best value point in Klaviyo's pricing?
10,000 active profiles at $150 a month is the cheapest profile you can buy on the published ladder, at $0.0150 per profile, and it is not beaten again until roughly 30,000 profiles. Getting there is unusually cheap too: moving from 6,500 profiles to 10,000 adds 54 percent more profiles for 7 percent more money, $10 on top of $140.
What happens when you cross 10,000 profiles on Klaviyo?
The price steps from $150 to $175, a 17 percent increase for a 5 percent increase in profiles. From there to 13,500 profiles every further step adds $25 for only 500 more profiles, which is $50 per 1,000 profiles added. That is the most expensive stretch of the entire ladder, and it is 17.5 times the rate charged in the cheapest stretch.
How many emails do you get on each Klaviyo plan?
On every one of the 49 paid tiers the monthly email allowance is exactly 10 times the profile count. A 500 profile plan carries 5,000 emails a month, a 150,000 profile plan carries 1,500,000. The free plan does not follow this rule: it gives 250 profiles and 500 emails a month, a ratio of 2 times, which is one fifth of the paid ratio.
Is the Klaviyo free plan enough to start on?
The free plan covers up to 250 active profiles, 500 emails a month, $5 of mobile messages a month, 10,000 Composer credits, built-in reporting and email support. The binding limit for most senders is the send allowance rather than the profile count, because at 2 emails per profile per month you can reach your whole list twice. The first paid tier, 500 profiles at $20, lifts that to 10 emails per profile.
