Writesonic pricing in 2026: one real price break, then a flat rate

Writesonic sells three self-serve tiers: $79, $199 and $399 a month billed annually. Work out what a unit costs on each and the ladder splits cleanly in two. Stepping from Basic to Growth changes the cost of a tracked prompt, a tracked answer and an AI article by 0.3 percent each. That is not a volume discount, it is the same rate at twice the size. The only genuine break is lower down, at Starter to Basic, and it is caused by something most buyers never check: how many answers the tool actually samples per prompt.

First, this is not the tool you remember

Writesonic was an AI writing tool. Its pricing page in August 2026 sells an AI search visibility platform: tracking a brand across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with AI articles and site audits included as the means of fixing what the tracking finds. If you are comparing it against Jasper or Copy.ai as a copywriter, you are comparing against a product that is no longer sold that way.

What one unit costs on each tier

A headline price is not comparable across tiers with different quotas. Divide the price by what each tier actually delivers and the picture is not the tidy ladder it looks like.

Starter is simultaneously the cheapest tier and the most expensive one. It gives the cheapest tracked prompt and by far the cheapest AI article, and the dearest tracked answer on the ladder. Which of those you care about decides whether Starter is a bargain or a trap.

The step that changes nothing

Growth costs almost exactly twice Basic, and delivers almost exactly twice as much. That sounds fair, and it is, but it means the upgrade buys no rate improvement at all.

Three of the four units move by exactly 0.3 percent from Basic to Growth. Only site audits genuinely improve, falling about 20 percent to $7.98 each, because audits scale faster than the price does. If audits are not why you are buying, Growth is a capacity decision and not a value one.

Cost per tracked answer falls 58 percent, from $1.58 to $0.66. Everything else at this step gets worse: per prompt up 25.9 percent, per article up 51.1 percent.

The number underneath all of it

One line in the feature list explains the entire shape of this pricing, and it is easy to skim past. Each tier states how many prompts it tracks and how many answers it tracks daily. Those are not the same number.

Answers sampled per prompt, per day

Starter tracks 50 prompts and 50 answers: one answer per prompt per day. Basic and Growth track three. That single jump from one to three is what makes the cost per answer collapse at the Starter to Basic step, and it is the largest change anywhere in this pricing.

Why one answer per prompt is a weak measurement, and we would say this about our own work too. AI assistants do not return the same answer twice. Ask the same question of the same engine on the same day and the named tools can differ. That is the whole reason visibility tracking exists as a category. A tier that captures one answer per prompt per day is taking a single sample of a system whose output varies, and a single sample cannot separate a real ranking change from ordinary variation. Three samples is not a solved problem either, but it is a different instrument. This is a judgement about sample size, not about Writesonic: any tracker sampling once per prompt has the same limitation.

One more thing the table makes obvious: seats do not scale. Starter is $79 for one user, Basic $99.50 per user, Growth $133 per user. Cost per seat rises at every step, so if extra seats are the reason you are upgrading, you are paying a premium for them rather than a discount.

Every price above is quoted per month billed annually, which is how the page displays them. The page also states a 20 percent annual saving and gives the yearly savings as $240, $600 and $1,200. Those imply monthly rates of $99, $249 and $499, and the two published figures agree with each other on all three tiers.

We are labelling those monthly numbers as derived, not observed. We could not get a working monthly toggle on the page, so we did not read them directly, and we would rather tell you which figures we saw than present arithmetic as a reading. The annual prices and every quota on this page were read directly.

Tier names, prices, annual savings and every quota were read from writesonic.com/pricing on 30 August 2026, with non-essential cookies declined. All per-unit figures, the rate changes and the answers-per-prompt ratios are computed from those readings rather than quoted from anywhere.
